Why Are There No Female Ennie Judge Nominees?

Indie game developer Robert Bohl asked a provocative question yesterday:
Why indeed?

 Hmm...

Oh gosh. Let's check around the first time I was nominated for a bunch of Ennies...

I guess we'll never know.

Not believing that the cast of I Hit It With My Axe would be subject to harassment requires a level of head-in-sandism one can hardly fathom in this era.

Seems exceedingly disingenuous. I’m unclear why he even needed to “seek a source for that information”. ENies judging is done via self nomination. Its literally on their front page. They made an announcement spelling it out on their website and on enworld. I did it. It took the time to fill out the answers and hit submit. If he was serious about it he would advertise the open judge spot and encourage under-represented groups to run. But maybe that’s just me.

@pandatheist, so anybody who applies for a judge spot is automatically accepted? That seems like a very bad idea.

I'm going to assume this isn't how it works, so then Bohl is questioning the way judges are picked from the list of potential judges. That there are not many (or at all, I don't know) women on the team of judges could be because of two reasons, either no woman candidates applied, or the people who pick the judges decided to not select a any women (Which can be done for various reasons). Checking your assumptions, and asking 'hey did any women apply?' is actually doing good research.

Also the whole 'encourage under-represented groups to run' thing seems silly, you can't know which groups are under-represented before the judges are selected. The organizers of the ennies should have done that while selecting the judges (and noticing the lack of representation) (im assuming Bohl isn't part of the ennies organisation). Bohl can't go back in time and make people run for something that already happened.

Checking up on it, damnit, they do allow the public to vote on the judges, that is stupid. (Techsavy people can easily hijack these kinds of elections).

Anyway, there still is a group of people that selects a shortlist of potential judges from all the judges that applied (or at least somebody that weeds out judges like 'XxX_DeathtoDnD_xXX_blazeit240', so wondering if there is bias in that process which causes the lack of representation isn't disingenuous at all).

Btw, the reactions of Bohl later (where the insults start flying) do clearly show he is disingenious. I had not realized that was the same person. That makes it pretty weird btw. 'im looking for information', *Gets given information*, *starts flinging accusations*

So the guy harrassing you doesn't belive you are being harassed? Hilarious!
