Workin' On The City Kit...
That's a first draft for the map of Eshrigel the Medusa's place. The squiggly spiral thing above her head is the symbol for "secret door". (Click to make it bigger.)

Very nice.
I'm at a loss for 'H'. Water closet?
@biopunk
yep
Is there a convention you're using for white/light-lined steps being 'up' and heavy/dark lines for 'down'?
Let me see if I'm getting the way the stairway notation works: The entrance (A) goes down into the hallway (G). At the opposite end you go up to J, and there's also a stair in her room going... I'll venture down since there's no more room on the next floor, to E?
Sweet.
Awesome.
I seriously envy your map-fu.
What's in N? Looks cool/weird.
Cool! I hope you'll post many preview, I can't wait!
@Chris
A is actually a turret on TOP of the building, and L is the ground floor entrance.
there's a stairway that goes A-G and one going G-J and there are also stairs in the upper right between B and F.
@satyre
N contains an undead monster in a cage
@biopunk
stairs go both ways, I just use the different colors to distinguish them so you could follow their paths.
Will every map look like this? Will this be the first D&D supplement that can double as an art book?
I said "guaranteed sale" the other day when this was announced. I don't know how to top that, but consider it topped nonetheless. I can't wait for this book.
This is so cool. Can't wait.
@Zak
I see the door now. My Western ethnocentrism had me reading this from the top down (I thought the layout seemed wrong based on the I Hit It episodes). And I mistook the B for an E dispite the "e" right next to it. Doh.
I think it'll work just fine as both a map and cool art, then, especially in context.
I'm sure this map makes a lot of sense to you Zak, but when I look at it, I can't make heads or tails of it. Still, this city kit you're working on has me very intrigued.
@Rath--
1.did you look at the revised version posted in the next entry? and
2. if it's still unclear, what specifically? i.e. "I look at the ____ part of it and I don't know if _____ is _____ or_____"
