Some "I Hit It With My Axe" News...

Watch the first video here to see the latest news on 'Axe'.
Mildly not safe for work.

"Mildly."

This is sad to hear, but also, not the worst news in the world. When it gets a new home, I'll check it out there.

Depends on where you work, I guess.

Unfortunately, it appears as if The Escapist's experiment in covering tabletop gaming was less than successful for them. I give them a lot of credit for taking a chance on this.

@James--
Is your columns still going on?

Good luck with things Zak.

I'm bummed but it definitely doesn't feel like the end of the world. That is, I find it highly likely you'll find a venue soon.

Oh and kudos for dulling the pain by cushioning it with two of my two favorite things - Green Lanterns and very sexy, partially naked women.

I look forward to seeing where the show lands. And, yeah, "mildly." Heh. :)

Bit of a downer that really, the show will be missed, thank you for softening the blow somewhat.

I hope all your other endeavours meet with better success, especially the AVN awards. :)

I checked the site yesterday, and the video wasn't there, and I started to wonder if something went south with Mandy's illness or something. I'm glad it's something far more mundane than that, and I'll be tuning -- or whatever the relevant verb is nowadays -- in when you have your new home.

Few people give as much clarity about what they're doing. Thumbs up.

God dammit! I suppose you will still be blogging etc? Aside from your income, the real loss seems to be the exposure your crew were giving the game. Uh... excuse the pun.

Looking forward to the Vornheim book. Hopefully the cutting of 'Axe won't impact sales.

The Highest of Fives to you and yours!

Nope. The whole "Days of High Adventure" series has ended, not just my contribution. It was fun while it lasted, though.

Very entertaining show and it's been a lot of fun watching. Hope it lands somewhere else!

You might go ask "that guy with the glasses" or "the spooney experiment" or the "Angy Video Game Nerd"(maybe) wether they might be interested...
It would be a shame to let IHIWMA go down in mid-air. It's lame that the escapist just let's it go away. They should've had some plan ready from the start. What were they thinking?

Unknown said...

So uhhh.....is there a full video of this?

Bard said...

I see you felt, that you have to compensate us with something, for the lack of new episode... :) Well, you were right! :)

Anonymous said...

I do respect and appreciate your ability to cushion the blow!

@TrentB

We'll probably make more money not doing 'Axe' since we'll have a few extra days a month to do our real jobs.

:( Bummer to hear, but thanks for the spoonful of sugar. I follow your blog more regularly than the show, anyway, but I'll certainly check out the show again once it finds a new home. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, BTW.

Came here to find out what the hell was going on. Totally guted:(
But did have to watch the video several times for medical reasons which did help cheer me up. (crank) I'm sure this is not the end. You are some very clever and enterprising hombres and I have no doubt you will find a new home for your show. Will catch you up then. In the meantime just wanted to say you will be missed and thank you for everything so far. Take care and good luck. Right! thats enough sentiment from me, I'm off to punch some grannies to balance out my idium....Just kidding about the grannie punching.:)

Well damn. I hope you can find a way to at least bring out the episodes you already have shot. I get a lot from the blogs, but I feel the FUN in your campaign when I watch the show. And the tension and the fear and the disgruntlement. It always makes me think about the kind of game I want to be playing, and how I can move closer to that.

Rock on.

@Zak S
Oh sweet. I didn't know it took up so much of your time! But then again, now that I consider it, of course it does.

Well good to hear! Keep doing your thing.

Cheers! T

Have you considered turning Axe INTO porn? That's like, the one indisputably profitable paradigm* for content delivery online.

*I apologize for using this word.

Chris Lowrance said...

Menace: See, at that point why not just make porn, DnD or no DnD? Zak's Green Lantern metaphor applies to People Who Wanna Watch Women Play DnD Then Fuck vs. People Who Wanna Watch Women Fuck.

From what Zak's said, the girls who already make porn make more money doing that than doing anything related to this. He makes more money doing anything else compared to doing this. And Satine, Connie and Frankie (when she was still in LA) don't do porn anyway.

I love the show and hope to see it again, but I'm having a hard time picturing the Axe crew doing it as anything but a labor of love.

Well, I hope you find a new home for Axe too! I kind of stopped watching a while back, but I've been meaning to catch up.

Maybe you could put the completed episodes on a DVD some day, or something like that. Adult Swim? I guess the commercials will always be a problem.

Tom said...

On that topic, who owns the Axe episodes already broadcast? The Escapist or you? I second the idea of a DVD/CD with the episodes already done for fans, such as myself, who would like it. When I need the episodes to convince certain females that, yes hot/cool girls DO play D&D, in 5 years or so, I doubt they’ll still be up on Escapist…

Technical rights question: would it be OK for me to save a video of two very lovely ladies enjoying themselves with a first edition Players Handbook on the bed on my hard drive?

Also, good thing I'm working at home today.

Anonymous said...

I love the adult swim idea, though they don't generally do live action.

Mange said...

If it would help, I can check who hosts our videos at Horrorsnark. I don't know because the other reviewers do all those. I, sadly, have yet to figure out how to read one of my reviews without sounding like the God-forsaken lovechild of Dennis Miller and that guy from the Escapist.

Zak Sabbath said...

@mange

i never say 'no' to free information. as long as i don't have to do any work to get it.

Mange said...

Hahaha, sounds about right. I just realized the humour of saying "that guy from the Escapist" to you. Zero Punctuation, rather.

Anonymous said...

Dagnabbit! Well, hope you find a new home soon. Hey, what are the girls' blog URLs? I'm having a hard time finding them.

Mange said...

Yeah, what are their URLs?
The hosting is blip.tv. Not really sure what to think of that, since they do "pay per view." Sounds like more headache than it's worth. Sorry, man. As a consolation, I offer angry music:

I gather from context (and the fact that finding the episodes on the Escapist is a little challenging now without direct links), that the show as a thing on Escapist is over (if not everywhere). But the most recent video linked on the Facebook page is just episode 36. I get the impression Facebook (or Escapist?) took it down?

Everloss said...

@ shimrod

dude, have you seen [adult swim] in the past 2 years? all it IS is live action.

also, apparently I'm late to the party. I had to gather from the comments that the show is no more. the link just goes to facebook and there ain't no info there. that sucks man, I even got a bunch of my friends to start watching it.

Anonymous said...

Wow, the show is awesome. Too bad it has only 36 episodes. I might have to slow down, save it, and watch it before sessions. It makes you want to play and think and laugh. Inspiring stuff.
