Our Thief Drew This (PLUG PLUG PLUG)

So Satine Phoenix...

...who actual play report readers and I Hit It With My Axe fans may remember from such incidents as "I Got Killed By A Bunch Of Goblins On A Crappy Bridge"and fans of hot interracial action will remember from such films as "My Hot Wife Is Fucking Blackzilla 7" drew all the stuff in this game....
It's weird:
Yeah, I don't know either.
Check it out.

  3. Great game. I got an advance pdf copy because I supported the IndieGoGo campaign. I did a video review here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U90HvJ8KLtU

  4. I liked the little bit of artwork shown in the preview. I've seen other pieces of Satines artwork and liked that as well.

One issue with the free preview: It's 8 pages long, with the cover, a blank page, and 3 pages of OGL license. So I still have very little understanding of what the game is about. As far as I can tell, it's a space game that is trying to profit off of LotFP's name. Am I off the mark?

    1. Yes, you are totally off the mark. And it's bizarre that you would leap to such an insulting conclusion.

If I was you I'd google the people involved I'd ask them.

    2. I don't really see how that conclusion (I don't even think I would call it a conclusion, especially since I asked if I was wrong) is all that bizarre given the name of the game and that it's not published by Raggi. In fact, one review (linked to by the game's creators on their blog) even says it is based on LotFP. Using the term "profit off of" was out of line; I'll give you that.

I did google the makers of the game. I went to their official blog and went through almost a year of posts about development and still don't really have an idea about the game or, to be more specific, what sets it apart from other sci-fi games.

After reading several reviews, I am told that the alien creation tables and spaceship creation tables, and, in fact, all of the tables, are really spiffy and great. But once again, that doesn't really tell me anything about the game itself. I'm not the only one scratching their head about this if the thread on theRPGsite is any indication.

What makes this different or better than say, Stars Without Number? I'm a poor punk dude who doesn't have 12 bones to shell out for a pdf of a game I know nothing about. I WANT to know about it, which is why I'm asking about it.

(I couldn't watch billionsix's 30 minute vid due to a shitty wi-fi connection. I'll try to watch it again tomorrow)

      Bingo.

As for your other questions--I know not. I

  6. I bought this and think it's pretty awesome. What makes it different than "Stars Without Number" is attitude. I like it a lot. But, I am hard pressed to print out something this big ... any idea if a print on demand version is in the works?

    1. I also got the pdf. The system actually encourages a certain attitude, not just its presentation. For example, personal deflector shields make it so melee weapons still have their place. Anyway, as for your release date question, apparently it'll come out in print as soon as the backers all have their own copies. It isn't an actual answer but it gives us a vague idea.

  7. I just picked up Machinations myself, and on a first read through, it looks like tons of fun. It has a very retro, 1970s sci-fi vibe, sorta Barbarella walks into the Mos Eisly cantina and starts blasting. Given that my space RPG setting is drawing on all those same influences, I'm loving Machinations.

  8. Totally 100% worth buying for the alien race creation system alone. Seriously.
