For example, if people are dropping their weapons 1 time out of 20 in fights, it gets silly quickly. But if sometimes they drop them, other times they trip, other times they leave themselves open for an extra attack, etc, then fights become more interesting.Brunohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01448568062628550613noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2638993969706011706.post-34571286420226602972013-06-20T17:35:16.571-07:002013-06-20T17:35:16.571-07:00Fumbles should err on the side of comedy, imo, swo...Fumbles should err on the side of comedy, imo, swords lodging in beams and doors, ropes tangling amongst feet and limbs, etc.

In most cases, I would allow an instant save or attribute check to avoid triggering attacks of opportunity or other serious repercussions; to give that 'drum roll' effect and get everybody's attention.n8mcdhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03595908467212326227noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2638993969706011706.post-84708347266006918942013-06-20T07:08:13.762-07:002013-06-20T07:08:13.762-07:00Haven't used critical miss in a while except a...Haven't used critical miss in a while except as flavor ("You swing hammer and monster snickers at how much you missed him by..."), but once I had a sword-swinging skeleton get its sword stuck in a nearby wall. If you're just swinging your sword in a low-stakes fight and roll a 1, I think it's kind of dumb that you might cut your own leg off or something, but when the tension's high and you might blow it, I say let the players *really* blow it.Scott Faulknerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04017047782663517483noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2638993969706011706.post-24436084621712669772013-06-18T13:39:47.973-07:002013-06-18T13:39:47.973-07:00Wise words.Wise words.Ian Whttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05585316796421964527noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2638993969706011706.post-41383892406132264182013-06-18T13:17:16.716-07:002013-06-18T13:17:16.716-07:00I would say, more specifically: This is why GMs sh...I would say, more specifically: This is why GMs should do whatever they want (use crits, don't use them, whatevs) and players should only play with GMs they like and trust.Zak Sabbathhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08812410680077034917noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2638993969706011706.post-79801291067553646802013-06-18T13:13:06.597-07:002013-06-18T13:13:06.597-07:00This is why fumbles and crits should be used. This is why fumbles and crits should be used.Ian Whttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05585316796421964527noreply@blogger.com
